Set up is easy, if you are not fully conversant then you may need a bit of help from the manual to complete some elements of the set up. It has decent storage (you get 7.3 TB in a 8TB drive) and appears to be solidly built (time will tell).
The cons are:
1. it is a very noisy drive
2. “hub” – the C and USB outlets at the front are quiet useless. They can only be used for charging and not for connectivity and you wonder why
3. It slows down substantially on extensive use. In my case I was transferring large amounts of data (around 1TB) at one time as well checking on the drive the files that were transferred in each folder. After around 0.6 TB the drive started slowing down substantially. Not clear what caused it to slow down so drastically.
4. For the useful features that are available, the drive is expensive.
[Update 20-12-2022]
I have used this drive for over nearly 3 weeks and I am facing the additional problems:
1. Whenever you choose to exit, that is when it starts to backup. This results in you waiting for hours for the backup to complete as all attempts to eject the drive shows an error that the drive is in use.
2. What it backups at this time is difficult to understand
3. Even if you go to Toolkit and pause the backup, this does not affect the backup activity of the drive!? This is difficult to understand – if you need to disconnect in a hurry how does one do that?

ONly had it a short time. The most important part is how it lasts. The speed of data transfer is good (only 4 TB to go!!! We will see, but initial feeling is good

Got it to backup and archive my videos and editing projects from various SSD’s. Tried using the software provided by Seagate to copy all the files and it was horribly slow and failed mid copying from an SSD so had to format and do everything all over again. Later tried just drag and dropping to copy the files and managed to copy 1TB in about 2 hours. Obviously slower than modern SSD’s which I’ve gotten used to but for the price am very happy with the amount of storage and speed. Hopefully lasts long enough, will edit review if any issues occur.

This was truly a “plug and play” for me. Plugged it in, mapped the location, copied files from old backup, and set it for future backups to my backups! Much easier than the last one I tried and never got computer to recognize it! Buy it!

Cheap HDD but it’s noisy and also too big and not as fast compared to SDD. For storage only this will do the job.
