I wanted to build a computer for my video editing work and casual gaming my old x58 i7 930 was obsolete now for the work I do.. first I wanted to go with skylake i7 6700k but seeing few websites reporting CPU bending due to using after market coolers and at little to no difference in its performance compared to 4790k(I have a dedicated graphics card so not considering integrated GPU based numbers) I dropped that plan and went with 5820k which was just 2-3k more than 6700k and also being a better performer overall.Then came the next big choice I wanted an all black motherboard with no nonsense fancy lights and stuff I had two choices both being from MSI ,x99s sli plus and x99a sli plus I opted for latter because of better chipset which handles two 3.1usb on back of motherboard and also comes with an updated bios. I found that initial batches of x99s sli plus had many issues regard to ram compatibility so did not want to take that risk . this msi x99a sli plus won editors choice award 2015 Tom’s hardware and also most recommended x99 motherboard by anandtech.Hope this review helps 🙂

This is so fast that the game is playing by itself. Before I click an icon it opens. Before I want to shoot the enemy the ammo runs out. Before I think of opening Facebook the website is already opened. Before I press the power button my pc is turned on. Extremely fast. It is so cool that I had to remove the AC from my room. Best for gaming, best for programmers as the programs execute even before it is written. Highly recommended

Me llego y todo solo que no vino con ningun tipo de protector como poliestireno cuidando el paquete, igual Adentro se ve medio suelto todos los paquetes y pues me preocupa que este bien la tarjeta por que pues son componentes muy delicados y por que ando armandola tengo que esperar varios meses en probar si realmente funciona igual si si funciona deberian de tener mas en cuidado estos paquetes

Esta placa al parecer lo tenía todo y más. La tuve al rededor de 3 meses era robusta y permitía cosas muy específicas para renderizado con procesadores XEON. Luego de un trabajo pesado, la decidí dejar reposar unos días y al volverla a encender me aparecía el código 00 en la pantalla led. Había muerto. Obviamente intenté de todo para un RMA con MSI y este modelo no tenía soporte en México porque no estaba pensado que llegara a nuestro mercado, Amazon la había importado no se pudo realizar un cambio. Me tocó la mala suerte, ni modo.

This is overall a great board, as long as it works. I bought this board for use with my Hexacore intel i7, and for 6 months it worked great. The number of ports and expandability on this one is fantastic.
I was utterly in love with this board.
Then, then, then, it failed on me. I tried everything possible and there was a red light of death and there was little I could do. With trepidation, I took this board to the MSI service centre and from there, hell broke loose, and started going downhill like it was powered by rocket boosters.
First, trying to get in touch with the MSI service guys is a stellar pain. Getting things RMA-ed over phone or email is a herculean workout in futility. (Sisyphus would have had better luck). I finally managed to locate the service centre and there they took in the board.
This was the only process that was painless.
I was given an RMA slip and 17 days later, I received my board back. When the board went in, it was pristine and it came back with many of the pins bent and with two of the cpu fan pins not working. The board was also dust covered and looked as if someone dragged it through a desert and then flung it at a passing camel.
Needless to say, the board was not working.
Back it went the same day, and this time the way for 20 days, and back came a completely different board. This one was used, and looked like a hasty refurb job. When I complained they politely (they were actually pretty polite) told me that this is all they could do and I could take it or leave it.
After having spent close to 30k on a board, I had little choice but to take it. The board was thankfully working. But I am utterly disillusioned with the service quality of MSI.
I have, over my 18 year span of building PCs, and having owned 16 PCs (No kidding) had to return a few harddisks (who doesnt?) and exactly two processors (one AMD and one INTEL) and one PSU (Corsair if I remember correctly) and never was the process so painful. For most of these products (all fairly high end) warranty was mostly replacements of a new unit.
But MSI really bummed this one and I will think several times before investing on another MSI product.

Was very happy to find a 2011 V3 motherboard for the customer build I was doing. The board work flawlessly and had no compatibility issues with the CPU, drives, or memory. Functionally is a good fit for the workstation I built. Not so pleasing was the price I had to pay for what is more of a bare bones X99 board.
