ASUS TUF Gaming Z590-Plus
First of all since audio is important to me, the Realtek audio on this motherboard does have a really nice 10-band equalizer that works on the optical digital output. I attached a screen shot of it because none of the ASUS documentation shows or mentions it.
Overall this was the best motherboard choice I think, for my usage. I wanted the high performance and good quality of an expensive board but without some of the extra stuff that the more expensive boards come with. For instance I don’t need four m.2 slots! I mean really. This one has 3. I’m only using one. I have large Seagate Constellation SATA drives for data and backup.
I didn’t really want wireless. Hard wire for me.
I wanted to stay away from ASMedia USB controllers, and as near as I can tell the USB controllers on this board are all intel and NVidia, so that’s good.
I wanted an intel ethernet controller which this has.
I did want an actual PS2 port for my 20 year old keyboards which are wonderful large keyboards that I will probably use forever. My keyboards are actually AT port, and I have an AT to PS2 extension cable to take them to the PC.
Before buying the board I used Facebook Messenger to get a couple questions answered by ASUS tech support. That took a few days but it worked out ok.
Installed ASUS Ai Suite III from the DVD. Checked temperatures and fan speeds – they are all nice and really low. My Noctua NH-U9S CPU fan is running usually at only ~700 RPM, I can’t even hear it with the case open. I’m not overclocking. CPU is an i5-11600k and I don’t have any need to overclock it.

This motherboard does not function well at all and overheats with products it claims to support. I ended up opting to replace it with my old one that had broken pins which I was somehow able to position back into place. However when replacing the motherboard, I realized multiple finger screws had slightly melted to the motherboard due to some connective clue on the bottom of the screw. While trying to unscrew it my finger slipped and it sliced right through the UNREASONABLY SHARP AND SERRATED GUARDS on the interior side of the motherboard, right about the cpu bed. The injury I sustained was severe enough to instantly splatter their entire motherboard with blood. It gave me multiple deep slices down the middle of the tip of my thumb and left me scrambling around my apartment looking for a first aid kit. The amount of blood that I had to clean off of my floor was disgusting and astonishing considering I got it from working on a FREAKING MOTHERBOARD!.
I could not recommend this product any less. I regret it with every fiber of my being.
Save yourself disappointing performance and a trip to the hospital, look for a different motherboard.

I prefer Asus boards and this one does not disappoint. Board quality is is top notch and arrived packed well and factory sealed. No issues installing my I9 CPU, cooler or supporting hardware. Manual is clear when you want to reference slots or pin headers. This thing is stupid fast once up and running. The only curve ball loading win 10 was the ASUS drivers on the install disc would not load. Neither would ASUS drive on my flash drive. It seems to be a known issue and without working ethernet you can’t do much. The two work arounds I am aware of are putting a WIFI card on the MB to make a WIFI connection or load the latest win 10 image on a USB flash drive and install updates from USB. I had windows loaded and booting fine from internal memory and once booted I put my flash drive in and launched windows set up from USB and it updated everything and my ethernet port and other drivers were now working. Bios is intuitive and easy to tweak.
