I was moving from years of using membrane keyboards. My last membrane keyboard was from HP that came along with the desktop PC – and about 4 years old. The keys had become hard and I was looking to buy a new one.
I was researching for mechanical keyboards and I found that most of easily available ones in India, with warranty and service – were primarily built for gaming and have LED switches. I don’t game – but I need to type a lot for programming. So, I realized that it is cheaper to buy a good RGB mechanical keyboard than one without LED. And then I could use the LED lighting when I want to program in the night . I chose Cherry MX switches and Corsair (I have used some of their other products and I like them) keyboard after a lot of research.
I was then not sure about which switch should I choose. I was sure I didn’t want the clicky ones like the MX Blue. But, I wasn’t sure if I should go for the MX Reds or MX Browns (especially for its tactile feedback). I was afraid to choose the MX Speed Silver switches fearing that I will make a lot of typos.
In the meantime, I started to like the Corsair K70 MK.2 SE (White) keyboard – but it only comes with the MX Speed Silver switches. Again after reading a lot and noticing how I was typing on my old membrane keyboard, I realized that I wasn’t banging hard on the switches. I also work on laptop sometimes and I am used to the short travel. I also noticed that I really didn’t need the tactile feedback – as I was able to catch my mistakes on the screen as I am used to touch typing. So, I started to like the Corsair K70 MK.2 SE more and more. And, I finally made the decision to buy it.
I am writing this after about 5 days of use. And, I can say that I love it so much! Turns out that having not used any of the mechanical switches before, the transition was lot easier. The MX Speed Silver switches are turning out to be perfect for me and I am sure now that I don’t need tactile feedback. So, I will most likely stick to the MX Speed Silvers in future as well.
The product was brand new and I got next day delivery. I do use the RGB LEDs at night and they are very useful. I have setup a few custom profiles using iCUE – including one that appears like our national flag. It took some learning but I got comfortable quickly.
Overall a good buy! I just need to take good care of it so that it lasts for a long time – it does look sturdy to last a long long time.

Delivery: Okay, they put a stamp of the keyboard box and shipped it without any extra packaging. The keys were all over the place. Lucky nothing was damaged.
Keys: They are my first Cherry MX Reds. They live upto my expectations except the ones which have stabilizers on them, especially Spacebar. It is too rattley. I silenced it using a plastic as cushion underneath the stabilizers. It made a huge difference. Infact, I added cushions to rest of the keys too. Two of them, ENTER & RSHIFT, are still noisy but at specific corners not the whole key.
Corsair had been notorious with their stabilizers though. So I knew about this when I bought.
Overall, the typing experience is amazing. I am definitely feeling the difference coming from macbook’s butterfly keys.
The keys are smooth. At first, I used to bottom out the keys, pressing it hard and it hurt my finger tips a little. Took me while to adjust to the 45g force and 2mm actuation point with no click as feedback as was in my Blue Switches keyboard.
I had a couple of other keyboards is mind, Razer’s Blackwidow v2 and Hyper Alloy Ellite.
Rejected Razer, for their custom swiches as I decided to have Cherry Switches.
Rejected HyperAlloy over looks (though the stabilizers are better on it) and I got a great deal over this on sale.
The extra control buttons for media are awesome. They are membrane type and not as smooth as Cherry keys, a little too stiff.
RGB on this are phenomenal. Though I rarely keep them on and use boring profiles just as backlit lighting. I think I am not doing them justice.
iCue software is terrible. It is not user friendly at all. There is a good learning curve to it not as straight forward. Although, it provides more granular configuration for lighting. You can have 4 profile on the keyboard’s memory and can update them from profiles you create. Or, you can load profile from iCue without onboarding or saving but you need to have the iCue window running.
Overall the keyboard itself for typing is a solid 5.
For lighting I would give it a 5. It looks stunning.
There are some issues but not that big.
Loving it so far.

So i have been using this keyboard for more then a week now. This is the first mechanical keyboard i purchased. So based on my usage below are key pro and cons of this keyboard
Pros:
1. Keyboard is very sturdy and has good weight to it due to which it does not move while gaming
2. Cherry MX Speed keys are awesome and quick response
3. keys are tactile enough with mot too much clicky sound like blue switches
4. Looks too good
5. Even though its white the alphabets and number are visible even with RGB lights switched off
Cons:
1. I didn’t find anything wrong with it except for one major flaw. The iCUE software from corsair which is used to control lightning effects takes too much CPU usage. I have Ryzen 5600x on NZXT Kraken Z53 cooler and both are not slouch. Due to iCUE my CPU get more utilized and temperature increased to upto 78 Degrees. In task manager it shows high CPU usage. With out this software we wont be able to control the effects which is very bad
Hence i give this product 4 out of 5 stars
